2.定屬性、調語序:
①we were to understand放在兩個逗號之間,作插入語,不影響主干,可以在找主句時先去除,剩下的是what motivated him was his zeal….Was是謂語動詞,was前是主語,可以看到主語為what引導的主語從句。
what motivated him was his zeal….激勵他的是他的熱情。。。
②zeal for“fundamental fairness”,名詞+for引導的介詞短語,介詞短語跟前面的名詞zeal有關系,翻譯成“對。。。的熱情”
③protecting the taxpayer,/controlling spending/and ensuring,and引導的成分為分詞的并列結構。當3者并列的時候,會以“...,...and...”呈現(xiàn);
④ensuring that…:V+that結構,為賓語從句的識別標志,順序翻譯即可。
